My old friend. What happened to you? Where have you gone?
It seems like yesterday we would walk to the store and play hide and seek in the clothes racks until we got kicked out and we would return home laughing with smiles on are faces.
I when to your house yesterday, I looked through the window waiting to see you come running and jumping to open the door for me. But you never came.
I called you but you never answered the phone instead I left a message. ”hey bro what’s up I hope you are ok, lets hang out soon”.
I never heard from you again.
Depression had consumed you.
You fought long and hard. Never giving up but it was just stronger.
We never saw it coming.
It Crept out from the darkness and enveloped you in its saddening shadow.
I asked if you were ok you said “yeah” and shrugged your shoulders.
We sat and had tea and talked.
I stared into your eyes trying to catch a glimpse of your soul but I could not see past the dark clouds.
I knew you were there inside of that shell but I did not know how to pull you out.
We parted ways.
I hoped to see you again sometime but that never happened.
You fell in love with that monster.
It tore you apart but it became all you knew.
You embraced it as it whispered deception to your spirit.
I wish I could have said goodbye while you were still here, whole unadulterated.
So to the friend I lost farewell.
I loved you like a brother.
I hope you find yourself.
